sofalet is not released yet. There is no download, and nothing on this page describes a finished app.

It is a home screen for Android TV and Google TV. A wallpaper fills the screen, and the colours of everything else are taken from the photo that is showing. Over it sit a clock, a small strip that says whether you are online, your apps in rows, the weather for your city, and what is playing in any app. An optional row picks up what you were watching in other apps. Themes written by other people and a way to keep several TVs in step are planned, not built.

It needs no account. What it reads on your TV stays on your TV: the privacy policy says exactly what goes where.

Frequently asked questions

What is sofalet?

A home screen for Android TV and Google TV. A wallpaper (photos, an animated aurora or a gradient) fills the screen and the interface takes its colours from it. On top are a clock, a network strip, your apps, a weather widget and a Now playing widget.

Where can I get it?

Nowhere yet: the app is not released. This page will say so until it is.

Can it replace the Google TV home screen?

Google TV does not let you choose another home screen. sofalet offers an optional accessibility service that answers the Home button, which you turn on yourself in the system settings. It acts only on the Home key. Without it sofalet is an app you open.

Does it need an account?

No. You can sign in, with an address and a code or with Google in the Play build, so that a licence granted to your address finds your TV, and that is all the sign-in is for. To close an account, see the delete account page.

What does it send over the network?

Photos are fetched from Unsplash, weather from Open-Meteo, and the city can be estimated from your internet connection if you ask. Read the privacy policy for who gets what.
